Val Thorens Webcam Live: the Resort in Real Time
Our live Val Thorens webcam streams the Rond-Point des Pistes, in the heart of the resort. In a few seconds it shows you the weather, the snow and how busy the front de neige is. It is the perfect habit to choose what to wear in the morning, decide when to head to the slopes or simply dream about your next holiday.
How to Read the Val Thorens Live Webcam
Weather and Visibility
Blue sky and sharp shadows: an ideal day for the long runs of the 3 Valleys. White sky and flat light: stick to marked runs and the lower sectors, where visibility stays better.
Snow Cover
The Rond-Point des Pistes is in the centre of the resort, at around 2,300 m. If there is plenty of snow there, there is plenty on most runs above. In Val Thorens, the altitude often means good skiing until the end of April.
Crowds
The front de neige is busiest between 9 and 10 am, then at lunchtime. By checking the live Val Thorens webcam before going out, you can shift your start by a few minutes and avoid queues at the lifts.

Combine the Webcam with Forecasts
The webcam shows what is happening now. For the coming days, check the mountain forecasts from Météo-France and the lift and piste status on the Val Thorens tourist office website, which also offers other cameras across the ski area.

When to Come to Val Thorens?
The ski season usually runs from late November to early May, depending on the year. Each period has its strengths:
- December: fresh early-season snow, a festive atmosphere and quieter slopes before Christmas.
- January: dry cold, quality snow and often lower prices outside school holidays.
- February: winter holidays, the resort is in full swing.
- March and April: long days, sunshine and spring skiing, with snow still good thanks to the altitude.

Dress for the Weather
The Val Thorens webcam also helps you choose your gear for the day. In full sun, sunscreen and category 3 or 4 sunglasses are essential: at altitude, the glare off the snow is strong. In cloudy or snowy weather, choose goggles with a light lens to see the terrain better, and wear layers to stay warm on the chairlifts.
What to Do When the Weather Is Bad?
Even when the Val Thorens webcam shows low cloud, the day is not lost. The lower runs often stay skiable. The resort also has a sports centre, shops and plenty of restaurants. And why not a long raclette with friends in your apartment, watching the snow fall?
The Val Thorens Webcam Throughout the Day
To get the most out of the Val Thorens webcam, check it at different times. Early in the morning, it shows whether snow fell overnight and whether the groomers have been out. In late morning, it tells you how the weather and visibility are changing. In late afternoon, it captures the atmosphere as skiers come back from the slopes and fill the terraces, as the sun drops behind the peaks.
